The original seed to this track was planted around the winter of 2016 and was one of the first tracks where I attempted to go sample-free. It was done way before my Ableton conversion, using my old Pro Tools 9 set-up. I still had a number of good VST instruments to my disposal, especially keyboard instruments such as the transistor-style organ used here. Having Passed the test of time I came back to this track when putting together the album. Originally I had used the Temptations’ “Ain’t No Sunshine” drums on this track but due to my strict ’No Sample’ rule I was forced to replace them with some more Addictive drums. This proved to be a real eye-opener: by the time I’d layered up the Addictive drums, they were actually sounding nicer than the ones I’d sampled from the Temptations!
